GITES DE FRANCE

gite of normandyA gite is a self-catering holiday home – house, cottage or self-contained accommodation – set in rural surroundings, privately owned and providing homely accommodation at a price you can afford.  The owner will try to do his utmost to make your visit agreeable by providing you with information to enable you to enjoy to the full your holiday area.  Do not expect hotel like accommodation.  Most of the gites we offer are built and furnished in the traditional Norman county style.  You will find peace and seclusion and an escape from the stresses of everyday living.  Many properties are on farmland with all that that entails.  Be prepared to enter into the spirit of French county life

gite of normandyAll the properties in our brochure are approved the Gites de France an organisat
ion backed by the French Government Ministries of Tourism and Agriculture, which provides grants to help with the conversion of rural properties into self-catering holiday accommodation.  There are minimum standards set out in the Charter of Gites de France to which every gite must conform and each is regularly inspected by the Gites Departmental Office and classified as follows:

The classification system, places its emphasis on the layout and equipment provided with the gite.  The word “comfort” below means additional items or features, provided to add to the comfort of your stay.  This is not simply a grading system.
